Over-the-phone and video remote interpretation work well for individual appointments. Conference interpretation is a fundamentally different service for multilingual group settings.
Government agencies serving LEP communities must provide meaningful language access at public hearings, council sessions, and community forums — not just document translation. RSI makes this operationally practical.
Remote attendees select their language channel from within the platform they're already using. No special hardware required for participants. We handle the interpreter console and technical coordination.
Simultaneous conference interpreters work in real time while speakers are talking, switching mental registers continuously for hours. This requires specialist training and is different from standard OPI/VRI interpreters.
All attendees hear their language simultaneously via Zoom, Teams, or WebEx language channels. No equipment needed for participants. Best for hybrid and fully virtual multilingual events.
Interpreter booths with headsets and receiver equipment for in-person events. Completely invisible to other attendees. Required for large formal proceedings where audio isolation is needed.
Interpreter speaks after each speaker pause. Best for small meetings, depositions, interviews, and sworn testimony. No technical setup required. Also available remotely via standard video call.
Interpreter sits beside 1–2 attendees and whispers simultaneously. No equipment needed. Used when only a small number of participants need interpretation during a larger meeting.
Tell us the event type, date, duration, languages, number of attendees, and whether it's in-person, virtual, or hybrid. We'll recommend the right interpretation mode and confirm availability.
Conference interpreters work in pairs (rotating every 30 minutes). We assign subject-matter-matched interpreter teams per language. For RSI, we configure your Zoom/Teams language channels and run a tech check.
A dedicated interpreter coordinator monitors the event in real time. For RSI, a technical support contact is available throughout. Post-event transcription and captioning available as add-ons.
Public hearings, town halls, city council sessions, legislative committee testimony, federal agency stakeholder meetings, community engagement forums. Title VI language access compliance built in.
Hospital board meetings with LEP community representation, patient family meetings, clinical trial informed consent sessions, health system community outreach events. HIPAA-compliant workflows.
International arbitration proceedings, multi-party depositions with multiple languages, mediation sessions, expert witness testimony. NAJIT-affiliated interpreters available for court-adjacent proceedings.
District-wide parent meetings, school board sessions with LEP community, Title III outreach events, back-to-school nights for multilingual communities. FERPA-compliant. NASPO task orders accepted.
International conference calls, M&A due diligence sessions, multinational board meetings, global HR training events, investor presentations for international audiences.
Multilingual community organizing events, advocacy coalition meetings, public comment sessions, grant-funded community engagement programs. Title VI compliance for federal grant recipients.
We recommend booking at least 2 weeks in advance for RSI and on-site events. Same-week availability for consecutive interpretation.
VRI (Video Remote Interpretation) is sequential — the interpreter takes turns speaking after the English speaker, making conversations stop-start. RSI (Remote Simultaneous Interpretation) delivers interpretation in real time, simultaneously with the speaker, just like UN-style interpretation. RSI is used for events and large meetings; VRI is used for individual appointments and small meetings.
Yes. Zoom's language interpretation feature (available on Pro and above plans) allows attendees to select a language channel. We configure your meeting's language channels and our interpreters join via the interpreter console. Microsoft Teams and Cisco WebEx have similar functionality. We handle all technical coordination.
Simultaneous interpreters typically work in pairs for events over 30 minutes, rotating every 20–30 minutes to maintain accuracy and prevent fatigue. We provide a two-interpreter team per language as standard for events over one hour. Single-interpreter assignments are available for shorter events.
We cover 300+ languages for interpretation. The most commonly requested for conference settings are Spanish, Mandarin, Arabic, French, Portuguese, Vietnamese, Korean, Russian, Haitian Creole, Somali, and Tagalog. For less common languages, we recommend at least 2 weeks advance notice.
We recommend at least 2 weeks advance notice for RSI and on-site simultaneous events to ensure we can assign the right interpreter team and conduct a proper tech check. Consecutive interpretation can typically be arranged with 48 hours notice. Same-day emergency interpretation is available at a premium — contact us directly for urgent requests.
