Common questions

Immigration Document Translation FAQ

What immigration documents require certified translation?

Any foreign-language document submitted to USCIS, an immigration court, or a US consulate must be accompanied by a certified English translation under 8 CFR § 103.2(b)(3). This includes birth certificates, marriage and divorce records, police clearances, academic transcripts, financial records, passports, court documents, and any other foreign-language document that is part of your application package. Even documents with partial English content (such as bilingual ID cards) must have the foreign-language portions certified translated.

Do I need to notarize immigration documents?

USCIS does not require notarization of translations — a certified translation with the translator's Certificate of Accuracy is sufficient. However, some state courts, foreign embassies, and consular offices do require notarized translations. If you are submitting to an immigration court (EOIR) rather than USCIS, some judges prefer notarized translations. When in doubt, ask the institution receiving your documents. Adding notarization to any of our certified translations costs $40 and can be done at the time of order or after delivery.

How do I get immigration documents translated?

The process is simple. You send us a clear scan or photo of your document, tell us the source language and what you need it translated for (USCIS, visa, court, etc.), and we assign a certified translator. We deliver the completed translation with Certificate of Accuracy by email as a PDF. For large multi-document packages, we coordinate the entire project under a single order number so everything is organized for your filing. Most single-document translations are completed within 2–5 business days from document receipt.

What languages do you translate immigration documents from?

We translate immigration documents from over 300 languages. The most common immigration source languages — Spanish, Portuguese, Chinese (Mandarin and Cantonese), Arabic, Hindi, Tagalog, Vietnamese, Haitian Creole, French, Russian, Ukrainian, Bengali, Korean, and dozens more — are available with rapid turnaround. Less common languages may require slightly longer scheduling to assign the right subject-matter specialist, but are fully supported. Contact us if you have a rare language requirement.

Can attorneys use your immigration translation services?

Yes — we actively serve immigration law firms, legal aid organizations, and solo immigration attorneys. We offer volume discounts for firms with ongoing translation needs and can establish account-based billing for regular clients. We understand attorney-client confidentiality requirements, sign NDA agreements when requested, and deliver translations in attorney-ready format with consistent certification language. Many immigration attorneys list us as their preferred translation provider for client referrals.

How quickly can you translate immigration documents?

Standard delivery is 2–5 business days from document receipt. Rush delivery in 48 hours is available at $31.24/page. Same-day delivery (by end of business) is available at $37.49/page for orders received before noon Eastern. Immigration filings sometimes have court deadlines or visa appointment dates — if you have a specific deadline, tell us when you inquire and we will confirm whether we can meet it before you place the order. We never miss committed deadlines.
